Antique Dry-Scraped Swedish Mora Clock

$0.00
Sold Out

Traditional Mora clock boasts a stunning hand-scraped finish. Expertly crafted from Swedish pine, it showcases an unparalleled timeworn patina with remnants of the original blue, "Swedish pink," and alabaster paint, offering a glimpse of its original color scheme. The clock's belly is adorned with faint shadows of hand-painted flowers, while a carved bow, retaining its original blue-gray paint, elegantly graces the top of the bonnet. The iron dial, overlaid with plaster, features meticulously hand-painted numerals. Intricately detailed sweeping hands announce the time. Deemed too short at one time, the clock was lovingly raised to its current stature.

Hand-forged iron hinges and an opening latch serve as charming reminders of its age. Its graceful curves and beautiful dry-scraped finish make this lovely longcase clock a focal point of any room.

  • Found in Dalarna, Sweden, circa 1780

  • The clock has been dry-scraped (as found)

  • The lower portion of the clock was raised, and a faux paint finish was applied to blend with the upper portion (as found)

  • A minor area of wood loss is present at the corner of the base of the clock; however, it is not structural (as found)

  • A small portion of the upper back of the clock's body has been repaired (as found)

  • Original glass is present at the bonnet and door

  • It is not currently in working condition; however, all original inner workings of the clock are intact, and we have been told it could work again

  • Both weights, wooden pulleys, and brass pendulum are present; the string has been replaced (as found)

  • The winding tool is present

  • Iron hinges are present on the head and belly of the clock, which both open

  • Overall wear is consistent with age and use

  • Approximately 22.375” W x 9.75” D x 80.25” H

Available for pick up, local delivery, and nationwide shipping.
