Nicholson Workbench
The “Nicholson” or “English” workbench is credited to Peter Nicholson’s “Mechanic’s Companion” written in 1831. This classic design is made of simple construction, featuring a characteristic deep front apron drilled to enable the use of pegs and to support work vertically.
We found this old workbench in Amish country, Pennsylvania, and believe it would make a unique kitchen island or bathroom vanity.
Lightweight, but sturdy and built to last
One side of front apron has original paint, adding to its character
The wood vise is missing, but we are having a new one made!
Iron hardware
The picture shows the workbench resting on two feet levelers. Please note that the piece is level, our old barn floor is not!
