Antique English Monastery Table
An antique English oak stretcher base monastery refectory table from the late 17th century. The planked top is joined together utilizing pegged mortise and tenon joinery, and is finished with a lovely routed edge. Turned baluster legs support the grooved edge detailed apron.
Although tables such as this were once used as dining tables in monasteries across Europe, we think it would bring character to your home when used as an entry table in the foyer, a tv console, a table behind your sofa or as a sophisticated kitchen island.
One of the planks on the top has slightly separated and has lifted away, adding to the table’s character
Light scratches and water stains on tabletop consistent with age and use
A few minor imperfections on the legs (see pics for details)
