18th Century Gustavian Chest of Drawers

$0.00
Sold Out

Distressed glamour, understated elegance, and approachable charm define the Swedish Gustavian style of furniture, which got its start in the late 1770s after King Gustav III visited the Palace of Versailles in France. Influenced by the Neoclassical style, he sought to bring about a marriage of foreign influence and minimalist Scandinavian ideals, ultimately creating a style of furniture that is now one of the most sought-after across the globe.

Crafted from solid wood, this one-of-a-kind 2 over 3 dresser features a beautiful time-worn “Swedish pink” paint and rests upon understated bracket feet. The dresser is topped with a modest raw wood single board plank, while the dovetailed drawers are adorned with the original brass ring pull hardware.

Whether used in a bedroom, entry hall or as a console in the living room, pieces such as this have us smitten and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter of her story takes her.

  • Found in Sweden

  • Dates to the late 18th century

  • Solid wood construction

  • The original paint has been dry scrapped and weathered, resulting in a wonderful time-worn patina
